Dr. R. C. Majumdar the learned author of the volume under review needs no introduction to the readers of the OLD. He took up the task of writing a series of studies on Indian Colonisation when the Greater India Society had not come into existence and when there were no works in the English language bearing on the subject. The first fruit of Dr. Majumdar's painstaking and pioneer work in this field of research made its appearance in 1927 in the form of Vol. I (*Champa*) in his projected series. Though every professor is judged by the quality of his own work we can also judge him by his capacity to instil in his students a zest for research work under proper guidance. We are happy to note that some of Dr. Majumdar's pupils have caught the spirit of their guru and published the results of their research.
