The territory of the Mūtibas has not yet been located. Raychaudhuri thinks it not altogether improbable that the Mūchipas, a variant of Mūtibas, are the people who appear in the *Mārkaṇḍeya Purāṇa* under the designation of Mushika, and locates the latter on the banks of the river Musi on which Hyderābād now stands.⁴⁷
