¹⁴ ‘Abd-al-Haq Dihlwi in a treatise containing the memoirs of certain famous philosophers and poets of Dihli written in the time of emperor Jahangir says that one of the most learned men of the age was Maulana Muaiyyan-al-Din ‘Umrani, the author of commentaries on the Kanz, Minān, Husami, Talkhīs and Miftah. Sultan Muhammad sent him to Shiraz with an invitation for Qazi ‘Azd-al-Millat-wal-Din Ālichi with the request that the latter would write a book dedicated to the Sultan. The Qazi was persuaded, but when the ruler of the place heard of this (Cont. on p. 427) he offered him his whole kingdom. Under this pressure the Qazi gave up all idea of paying a visit to Hindustan. Hājji-ad-Dabīr probably refers to this invitation but he confounds Ālichi with Shaikh Sādi.
