v2.c33.30

The Emperor at Allahabad, sulking under British restraint, felt encouraged by this Maratha advent and promised to pay 50 lacs if the Marathas would put down the Jat rebels. Madhosinh, the Raja of Jaipur, who had for several years dominated the politics of north India, died on 21st December 1767, leaving behind him a chaotic legacy. His successor Pratap Sinh now joined the Marathas and so did the Nawab of Bhopal.
