v4.c70.3

On 10th March 1684 Shambhuji's "armada" brought into Karwar several rice-boats belonging to the Portuguese which they had made prize of. About 13th March, a year later, 5 or 6 of his ghurabs and gallivats, stationed at Rajapur, visited Karwar. They used to "go out one day and come in the next,...robbing and plundering both at sea and shore what they can catch, having, it is reported, little else to live upon."
