Shujaet Khan employed as his intermediary in this affair the historian Ishwardas, a Nagar Brahman of Patan (now in the Gaikwar's territory), who had been employed as a revenue collector (shiqdar or amin) in Jodhpur and had made many friends among the Rathors. He has left a graphic account of the restoration of the son and daughter of Akbar, which we quote here, as the evidence of the chief actor in the scene.
