v1.c16.s8.3
In pursuance of this policy, the new wazir had persistently influenced the Emperor to evade Imād's demand for taking away all the provincial governments from Safdar Jang and turning him into a beggar, and also to save Suraj Mal from destruction by withholding the big guns so pressingly demanded by Imād for helping the Marathas to take Kumbher. He had also secured the Emperor's reluctant pardon for Safdar's two foremost Hindu officers Rajah Lachhmi Narayan and Jugalkishor as early as 19th December 1753, and an order for the restoration of their escheated house and property on 17th May 1754.
