¹ The same historical introduction was published by Mr. T. A. Gopinatha Rao in the *Sen Tamil*, vol. iv, pp. 514-6. Mr. Rao's text has been reproduced and translated by Dr. S. K. Aiyangar in the Appendix to his *South India and Her Muhammadan Invaders*. The regnal year at the end is not given and it is not known if the introduction is taken from No. 166 of 1894 or a different record. However that may be, the text differs in some respects from the official text published in the *S.I.I.*, vol. v, as will be seen from the subsequent notes.
