Page 82, n. 1.—Mr. Krishna Sastri (S.I.I., vol. iii, part iv, Introd., p. 10) says that the Kanyākumārī record (of Vīrarājēndra) states that Parāntaka ‘killed the Pāndya with his whole army’. But as this is contradicted by the Tiruvālangādu plates and the Mahāvamśa, the expression hatva of the Kanyākumārī record must be taken to mean ‘defeated.’
