³⁵ Geiger-transl. pp. 290-1 gives a lucid account of the details of the war. On one occasion seven Damiḷa princes were defeated in one day (xxv 10), and altogether thirty-two princes are said to have been thus overpowered in the war (*ibid.* 75). They were probably all commanders of Elāra's forces which garrisoned many fortresses on the frontier and elsewhere.
