Inscriptions on stone relic caskets found in the stupa at Bhaṭṭiprolu near the mouth of the Krishna river are probably only a few decades later than Aśoka's edicts; they are engraved in the same Southern variety of the Brāhmī script, and their language obviously reflects many peculiarities of local speech. These inscriptions mention a king Kubiraka and his father whose name is lost.
