After the second Pāṇḍya war, Kulottunga undertook a campaign in Kongu to check the growth of Hoysala power in that quarter. He re-established Chola suzerainty over the Adigaimāns of Tagaḍūr, defeated a Chera ruler in battle: and performed a vijayābhisheka in Karuvūr (1193). His relations with the Hoysala Ballāla II seem to have become friendly afterwards, for Ballāla married a Chola princess.
