In the interval between Venkata Mādhava and Sāyaṇa came also another great commentator, Shaḍguruśishya, ‘the pupil of six teachers’, whose personal name has not been handed down to us. He commented on the *Aitareya Brāhmaṇa* and *Āranyaka* and Kātyāyana’s *Sarvānukramaṇī*, probably about the middle of the thirteenth century.
