Besides Vedic texts proper, ancillary works like the Prātiśākhyas (manuals of phonetics) and the Kalpa sūtras (rituals) were also annotated. Shaḍguruśishya himself wrote a commentary on *Āśvalāyana Śrauta sūtra*, and the *Āpastamba Śrauta* was annotated twice over by Tālavrintanivāsin and by Caundapācārya (fourteenth century); the latter was also the author of *Prayogaratnamālā*, an independent treatise on ritual practices. The *Bodhāyana Śrauta* also had two commentaries, one by Bhavasvāmin (ninth or tenth century), and the other by the famous Sāyaṇa who was himself a follower of the Sūtra. Haradatta is another well-known annotator of the same school whose commentaries *Anāvilā* on the *Āśvalāyana Grihya sūtra*, *Anākulā* on *Āpastamba Grihya sūtra*, and *Ujjvalā* on the *Dharma sūtra* are rightly celebrated. He also wrote the *Mitāksharā* on *Gautama-dharmasūtra*, and a commentary on *Bodhāyana Śrauta sūtra* of which only an insignificant fragment has been traced so far.
