In 1568 (so it is said) Tirumala murdered his sovereign, Sadâsiva, and seized the throne for himself; but up to that time he seems to have recognised the unfortunate prince as his liege lord, as we know from four inscriptions at Vellore bearing a date corresponding to 5th February 1567 A.D.¹
