Vichitravirya had no male offspring. Of his three daughters, one was named Pandaia ³; and Vyasa, being the sole remaining male branch of the house of Santanu, took his niece, and spiritual daughter, Pandaia, to wife, and became the father of Pandu, afterwards sovereign of Indraprastha.
