The words important here are यो मौखरैः समि तिषूद्धतहूणसैन्या वल्गद्धटा विवटयन्बुरुवारणानाम्। translated as follows :-" Breaking up the proudly stepping array of elephants belonging to the Maukhari which had thrown aloft in battle the troops of the Huns" (page 206.) Thus the Maukharis of Kanauj seem to have had fights with the Huns, of course of the Panjab, and must be supposed to be allied in these conflicts with the troops of Thanesar whose country intervened between Kanauj and the country of the Huns.
