v3.c33.s6.36

The reasons why Hindu kings of Northern India did not attempt to establish their rule over the Panjab may be briefly noticed. We have already seen that half the population of the Panjab was Mahomedan now and did not encourage such attempt. Kashmir was then not strong enough nor Kanauj, to make the attempt. The Chauhans of Sambhar were at a distance and finally no great hero arose among them who could attempt this difficult task though Visala III, had he lived long enough, might have made this effort which he expressly said he had left to his descendents (See his inscription noted in Chauhan chapter).
