Saṅkha Dwīpa or (Zang) therefore represents the whole or a part of the eastern shore of Africa from Abyssinia to Madagascar. Ptolemy extended this coast as far south as Gardafui and to the south of it he placed another cape called Lingis or Singis extreme (or Saṅkha).
