After ‘falling’ on the Jathara range the river Tarim (or Sītā) takes a southerly course towards the Altin Tagh or the ‘Gold Mountain’, the Devakūṭa of the Purāṇas and finally ends in Lop Nor, the salt lake which lies at the foot of that range.
