As examples of such Purāṇic notions may be mentioned the Syr Daria and the Irtysh (Bhadrasomā), the Tarim and the Hwangho (Sītā), Karakul and Kizil-Su across the Mandara, Gilgit river–Lake Manasarovar–across the Nisadha and the Hemakuṭa, etc.
