The Kuruk Tagh and Altin Tagh mountains of Sinkiang practically close the Tarim Basin on the east and if the Altin Tagh-Nan- Shan-Tsing-Ling is taken to be the Devakūṭa which appears to be correct, Kuruk-Tagh must necessarily be the Jaṭhara of the Purāṇas. The Devakūṭa (i.e. Altin Tagh-Nan Shan-Tsing-Ling) thus fulfils both the conditions; along with Jaṭhara (Kuruk-Tagh) it joins the Nila (Tien-Shan) and the Niṣadha (Kunlun) and also extends to the sea.
