Airāvati—1. The river Ravi. 2. The Rapti and Irawadi also are contractions of this name. The Rapti is a river in Oudh, on the south bank of which Sahet-mahet (ancient Śravasti) is situated. It is a contraction of Achiravati (see Achiravati).
