Sipeler—A seaport near the mouth of the Krishṇā,—Sippara of Ptolemy. It has been identified by Dr. R. L. Mitra with Surpāraka. Cunningham identifies Surpāraka with Surat, but the Chaitanya-charitāmṛita places Surpāraka to the south of Kolhapur. But see Supāra.
