Opian—1. Hupian. 2. Alexandria, a town founded by Alexander. 3. Alasadda of the Mahâ-vamsa, twenty-seven miles to the north of Kabul. It was the capital of Parasusthala and the birth-place of Menander (Milinda of the Milinda-Pañho). Perhaps it is the ancient Kshatriya-upanivesa, Opian being a contraction of Upanivesa.
