*Mayūrakhaṇḍi*.—According to some it may be identified with the village called Markaṇḍi on the bank of the Waingaṅgā, 56 miles south-east of Cāndā in C.P. (*E.I.*, XXIII, Pt. I, January, 1935, p. 13). Markaṇḍi was a flourishing place in the time of the Rāṣṭrakūṭas and may have been the ancient Mayūrakhaṇḍi mentioned as a place of royal residence in several grants of Govinda III.
