Dakṣiṇa Jhārakhaṇḍa.—The Kendupatna copperplate grant of Narasimhadeva II refers to Dakṣiṇa Jhārakhaṇḍa, the northern portion of which covers the Ganjam Agency. It is also known as the Mahākāntāra in the Allahabad Praśasti of Samudragupta who came into conflict with its chief Mahākāntāraka Vyāghrarāja.
