*Eyirkoṭṭam*.—This district was probably called after Eyil (fort), a village in the Tiṇḍivanam taluk of the South Arcot district (*Ibid.*, I, p. 123). It is a district of Jayaṅkoṇḍaśolamaṇḍalam. Conjeevaram is said to be situated in it.
