Ayyapolil.—It is the Tamil name of Ayyavoḷe, which is identical with Aihole in the Hungund taluk of the Bijapur district, Bombay Presidency. It was famous as the headquarters of a very prosperous trading corporation (E.I., XXIII, Pt. VII).
