*Siddhasàra* is the Sanskrit name of the book, also known as *Xi Tan Suo Luo* by transliteration in Chinese. The full name of this book can also be *Vaidyàka-Siddhasàra* which means Medical Achievements Essence in Chinese. Ravigupta, the writer, is the son of Durgagupta, a famous veterinarian proficient in treating horse's disease and the brother of Devagupta. There is, however, very little information about him.
