For a river called मुरला in which the अपरान्त elephants sported, see Sel. Ins., p. 453n. The Murala people is known to have come into contact with Pratīhāra Mahīpāla I according to Rājaśekhara’s Bālabhārata or Pracaṇḍaṭāṇḍava (N. S. P. ed., I. 7) and with Kalacuri Karṇa according to the Bheraghat inscription (Ep. Ind., II, p. 11). Paramāra Sindhurāja (c. 995-1010 A.D.) is represented in the Navasāhasānkacarita (X, 14-20) as having defeated the Muralas. The reading of the other names and their location are uncertain.
