4. Vy, Bmd—इक्षुलौहित इत्येताः ; Mts a—इक्षुलौहितमित्येताः; bc—इक्षुलौहित्यमित्येताः; c (v. l.)—चङ्कुं लोहितामित्येताः. The name Ikṣu may indicate the Ikṣumatī (modern Kālīnadī, a tributary of the Ganges); but the form Caṅku as well as Raṅkṣu (or Vaṅkṣu) in Mk probably suggests that it is no other than the Vakṣu or Oxus (Amu Darya); cf. Kālidāsa’s Raghuvamśa, IV, 67, in Vallabha’s commentary. The Lohitya or Lauhitya is the same as the Brahmaputra.
