v2.c20.141

According to the *Life* the marvellous image of the Kuan-tzŭ-tsai P'usa here mentioned was made of sandal-wood, and it was enclosed by railings; the worshippers tried their fortune by casting flowers and garlands at the image. At the present day worshippers of Kuan-yin P'usa in many parts of China may be seen throwing a flower, or a small silk scarf, or some other small article, at the image of the P'usa; and the response to the worshipper's prayer is read in the fate of the object thrown.
