(iii) The confusion in Vedic Sanskrit between the feminine stems in -*i* and -*ī*, and the frequent transitions from the former class to the latter, prepare us for the occasional restoration of -*i*, which is probable in *vāśibhiḥ* viii 7 32c (7), *x 101 10b (2T): see also §§ 166 ii, 170 ii. On the other hand the restoration *nārībhiḥ* is required in i 43 6c to account for the form -*bhiaḥ* (§ 144).
