To discuss at any length the evidence affecting particular hymns would exceed the scope of this book, but there will be found in § 88 a list of all those hymns of the Rigveda with regard to which reasonable doubt seems to exist: and an asterisk is prefixed to those which appear to be more properly assigned to the popular Rigveda. The evidence of language and metre is given in the ‘Table of Hymns’ at the end of this book, and this table should also be consulted in each case.
