S. has हेसीं or एसींताईं “up to this time,” ओसीं or होसींताई “up to that time,” where ताईं, as explained in Vol. II. p. 298, is Skr. स्थाने, which, from meaning “in the place,” has grown to mean “up to.” सीं, I suppose, is a contraction of समय “time.”
