v3.c19.9

M. is consistent throughout एव्हां, जेव्हां, तेव्हां, केव्हां. In Old-M. forms जेधवां, etc., occur, showing that the modern व्ह vh is an inversion from ह्व hv. The suggested origin from Skr. कदा, by aspirating the द and adding आं, the termination of the locative (Godbol, p. 75), is unsatisfactory. M. has also a series जंव, etc., meaning “while,” “as long as,” which recalls H. जब with inorganic anunâsika.
