³ This is the modified view of Jagannātha who realises the difficulty and does not agree with Mammaṭa (see *Rasa-gaṅgādhara* pp. 55). Similarly Vidyānātha, though belonging to the new school, would accept (p. 334) Udbhaṭa’s dictum *saṅghaṭana-dharmā guṇāḥ*.
