It has to be remembered that even the reader of the best poetry must have a modicum of imagination and culture in order to enjoy aesthetically the poet’s outpourings, as said in ‘न यस्य कवेः श्रोतुः समानोनुभवस्ततः’ (लोचन cited above on p. 220) or ‘न जायते तदास्वादो विना रत्यादिवासनाम्’ साहित्यदर्पण III. 9.
