In the recitation of the Granthikas divided into two parties we have an interesting parallel to the place played according to Aristotle¹ by the dithyramb in the development of the Greek drama. Action was required neither of the singers of the dithyramb nor of the Granthikas, but it was only necessary in one case and the other to introduce action, and the form of the drama would be complete.
