of the Naigeyas, a subdivision of the Kauthumas. It agrees on the whole, but not in all particulars ¹, with the Śākhā published by Stevenson and Benfey, and it has been supposed that their text is taken from MSS. belonging to the Rāṇāyanīya Śākhā. The most characteristic difference between these Pariśiṣṭas and the Ārsheya-brāhmaṇa seems to lie in this, that the latter refers to the original prayer-books of the Chhandogas, the Veyagāna, and Āraṇyagāna, while the former follow the Saṃhitā, including Ārchika and Staubhika, or as they are also called, Pūrvārchika and Uttarārchika.
