Hindu jurists of medieval times are divided as to the acceptability of the extended definition of Strīdhana, as propounded by Vijñāneśvara. Majority of them, however, concur with him; Aparārka, Nanda Paṇḍita, Mitramiśra and Kamalākara are prominent among them. Some, however, have refused to recognise his interpretation; Viśvarūpa, Devaṇabhaṭṭa and Jīmūtavāhana are the chief among them.
