This clevage in the opinions of the jurists shows that society was following no uniform practice in the matter of recognising the scope of Strīdhana. There are, however, no actual recorded cases to show how far the items mentioned by Vijñāneśvara were actually included within the scope of Strīdhana in medieval times. The fact, however, that a large number of his successors uphold his opinion, would show that society was to a great extent following his lead.
