On the day of Ratnadatta's return Lavanyasundari was expected to dance before the king. She asked her maid to wait near the elephant post and to show her necklace as soon as she saw Ratnadatta arrive. The maid obeyed her order and Lavanyasundari learning of Ratnadatta's arrival took advantage of the promise that the king had made to her and took leave of him.
