The World of Courtesans c9.9

c9.9

The Indian summer affects the birds and animals, and makes them restless. But the lovers and the courtesans find their pleasure even on the hottest days. The moonlit nights are created to assuage the heat of the day. Summer houses, jewels cold to the touch and sandalwood help to lessen the rigour of the heat. The clean floors of houses are perfumed, and cold drinks are served all the time. There is music at night and it is a solace to the tired body. But in the stifling heat it is the courtesans who matter most.
