We get here a glimpse of the constituents of the army, the accoutrements of soldiers and of war-elephants and war-horses besides the weapons used in actual warfare. The *purohita* of the *Arthaśāstra* literature is present there. The function of the latter is as given in the *Kauṭalīya* to exhort the troops to fight with unabated strength and valour to the end.¹
