Kauṭalya does not stop with this but analyses the subject further by furnishing us with a categorical list of the benefits that would accrue from its adoption. These are: (1) अलब्धलाभार्था (attainment of desirable possessions not attainable by other means), (2) लब्धपरिरक्षणो (protection of what has been acquired), (3) रक्षितविवर्धनी (increasing what is then protected). (4) वृद्धस्य तीर्थेषु प्रतिपादनी (dispensing the wealth thus increased on meritorious purposes).¹
