*Shātūr*, شاطور. In Budāonī, Text, i, 382, we find this word, and it would seem from the context to refer to some article made of the trunks of trees, something connected with a siege. Colonel G. Ranking, 494, note 7, not finding it in any dictionary, suggests the Turkish *sātū*, the roof of a house, meaning a shelter under which to approach the walls, something like the Roman *vinea*, a roof of planks and wicker work supported on poles eight feet long, and carried by the men as they advanced. May not the correct word be *shāhtīr*, a beam?
