Clothes such as towels etc. were dyed in saffron.¹²⁹ Clothes dyed in red colour (*kāsāi*) were worn in hot weather.¹³⁰ The *parivrājakas* used to wear clothes dyed in red ochre (geruya).¹³¹ The profession of a rajaka, washerman, combined with itself the profession of a dyer as well.
