⁷⁸⁶ ब्रह्माञ्जलि is explained differently from Manu by आपस्तम्बस्मृति (in verse) quoted in सं. प्र. p. 524 viz. the left hand should be turned upwards, the right hand should be placed on it with the palm turned downwards, and the fingers of the two bands should firmly hold the backs of the hands. संवर्त quoted in स्मृतिच. (I. p. 51) reads ‘हस्तौ तु संहतो कार्यौ जानुभ्यामुपरि स्थितौ ॥’
